VETERAN MEETUP

Saxine-Biler will be a meetup for everyone with a classic vehicle or veteran vehicle. The meetup is named after Sakskøbing's famous smiling girl on the old water tower, known as Saxine. The meetup takes place on the 2nd Saturday in May – this year it will be on May 9th, but in the coming years, it will also be on the 2nd Saturday.

Intensive work is being done to ensure everything runs smoothly, especially marketing through this site, Facebook, and direct inquiries to the nearly 400 motor clubs in Denmark are already in high gear.

The meetup is organized by the Sakskøbing Handelsstandsforening and the Lolland-Falsters Veteran Klub. Sakskøbing is probably best known for its annual fruit festival, where celebrity chef Claus Meyer leads this event. The Lolland-Falsters Veteran Klub is more widely known due to some of the events the club has organized in its 33 years of existence. Notably, the Classic Cars & Bike Meeting in 2013 and the CarWalk at Lungholm Slot in 2011. The club is admired by many for managing to have nearly 500 members and its own clubhouse in Holeby.

Saxskøbing is a cozy town with about 5,000 inhabitants, but even though it may seem small in size, the community spirit and what happens in the town is impressive.

Saxskøbing is conveniently located close to the E47 motorway – at exit 46 – making it easy to reach from Zealand, Copenhagen, and Germany. From Funen and Jutland, you can easily get there via the Storebæltsbroen or by ferry from Langeland, where Route 9 passes right by Sakskøbing.

The meetup was established here because the club and the town already have a connection. Every Tuesday from May 1st to October 1st, many happy classic and veteran enthusiasts meet at the town's harbor. Often, there are well over 100 participating vehicles.

The inspiration for Saxine-Biler comes from Burg on Femern.
