Parish Afternoon - Rasmus Hansen - Musician, Watchmaker, Hymn Writer

We traditionally kick off the season with a short church service, and then we move to the parish house's confirmation room at Vestergade 6, where we will enjoy coffee with homemade pastries. Tove Niclasen from Vigsnæs will share her fascinating knowledge about the diligent farmer and watchmaker Rasmus Hansen from Vigsnæs. He secretly wrote more than 180 hymns, which were only published after his death. We will hear about Rasmus Hansen's life, which unfolded in the local area from his birth in Oreby in 1813 until his death in Vigsnæs in 1903. Together, we will sing some of his hymns and explore where the inspiration for his many works came from.
