Bach Vespers with choir, cornet, strings, and organ.

November 4th at 7:00 PM – Stay with us - Bach Vespers As the November darkness descends, Klosterkirken invites you to a poignant Bach Vespers with choir, cornet, strings, and organ. The Vespers is built around the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and revolves around the prayer from the Emmaus story: "Stay with us, for it is getting toward evening." Through readings, hymns, a short reflection, and communion, Bach's music is allowed to unfold the words of the Gospel about hope, comfort, and God's presence – even as darkness falls. The music ranges from heartfelt chorales to more free choral pieces and is performed by the Maribo Domkirke Kantori and Klosterkirken Concert Choir along with a small instrumental ensemble consisting of cornet, strings, and organ. The simple instrumentation creates a close and intimate sound that allows both text and music to come through clearly. The liturgist for the service is parish priest Poul Steenberg, and Vibeke and Jan Ole Vanggaard lead the choir and ensemble. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.
